Episode 116: The Life and Strange Death of Gram Parsons

Tonight, we look at the life and career of Gram Parsons. The man is known as the pioneer of Country Rock. Without him, there would have been no Eagles, No Lynyrd Skynyrd, no Creedence Clearwater Revival. Gram Parsons started it all. From his work with The Byrds to the Flying Burrito Brothers (yes, that's a real band,) he was a vanguard. But if that's all there was to him, we wouldn't be discussing. What interests us is what happened to Gram after he died of a drug overdose at the age of 26. It's a story that is one part humorous, one part sad, and a testament to the power of friendship.
